Wall thickness
Wall thickness (in tube bending technology also called as W.T.) is the distance from endpoint on internal surface till the endpoint on the outer surface in one line according to the chorde passed through the center. Please check the picture for illustration.
Usually the tube section is indicated like (X) x (Y), for example 16 mm x 1 mm, where (X) - 16 mm is the outer diameter of the tube and (Y) - 1 mm is the tube wall thickness.
Wall thickness of tube could have the tolerance depends of the conditions and the manufacturer. This means that even in one pack W.T. will be different within the range of the tolerance from tube to tube or on different parts of the tube itself. One of big european suppliers, for example offers tolerance in W.T. as +/- 10%.The picture indicates the possible measure on different parts of the tube and WT1 could not be precisionly equal to WT2
Depends on the dependence of the outer diameter and wall thickness all tubes could be:
- Standard tubes
- Thin wall tubes
- Thick wall tubes
